would you cut family out of your life?

Would you cut family out if your life who aren't abusive or take drugs in any way but cause a lot of drama. Drama to the point where your children are getting affected by arguments and marriage is at breaking point because family are getting involved and giving their opinion on everything you do. Yes I know family bicker and are always in each others business. Birthdays, Christmas, christenings all get ruined because people create drama to the point you don't have a birthday party for your child because you don't want it turning into a 'he said she said'. Every happy event there has been an argument caused by it. Would you just walk away? Would you put up with inlaws like this?

Sounds toxic. That's still abusive. Sounds destructive. Set boundaries. If they don't respect them say goodbye.

Absolutely. I rarely talk to my fam anyways because of their horrible decisions... It's a great learning experience though...

My aunt is very religious (mormon to be specific) myself and my parents are agnostic but we do try and have good morals and be good people. We don't fit into the image she wants to project of her family (in social media she includes her extended family at least the ones she likes) so we're usually just cropped out so to speak. At thanksgiving when she would host it with her kids we would always be seated away from most people. When I was about to graduate hs she basically said that she would come to my graduation party if it was at Disneyland. Only 3 out of 6 (including her step kids) managed to graduate hs and I was going to a really good college and none of her kids went to college at all, so this was a big deal for us. She didn't come to my graduation when she knew it would have meant a lot to me because my grandparents on her side were some of the people I was closest to and they both passed away before I could get my diploma. She treats my mom like crap. And only ever associates with people who liss her ass or she wants something from. After both my grandparents passes she sold anything of cash value they had and felt the need to watch my mom and I go through what remained while we got some of the things of sentimental value to us.

I have cut her out of my life since she clearly doesn't want me in hers even though it has to do with her relationship with my mom and not me. Honestly once you've completely let go it feels good.

I would and I have cut out multiple members of my family because of the drama they have caused and to be honest, things are so much better and easier without them. They are on my side but I wouldn't hesitate if it was on my husbands side. It has also given me the confidence to tell my mother in law when she is overstepping. You need to do what is best for you and your family. I was getting so upset that it was taking a toll on my husband and daughter. We are all much happier now.

Yes. My brother (16 years older than me) is just an ignorant liberal mess & not that im not liberal but he is absolutely against listening to any type of authority including a boss & chooses to be homeless. I refuse to show pity i refuse to help those who wont help themselves. & i don't want these recent actions of his to replace the few good memories i have of him when i was 1 & 2 years old
