Well my daughter (born January 21st 2016)

She's smart, very smart as in she will be likely first or second grade level by the time she's in kindergarten. But she also very articulate as well. We had some family drama and that set her back a little but with a little therapy she over came her issues and now things are much better.

But I recall one day in the therapist office.

Therapist: so how is she doing today?

Me: ask her. She knows how she feels better then I do.

Therapist: (looked at me a bit puzzled and then looked to my daughter) "how do you feel today M?"

M: I feel disappointed

Therapist: (total look of shock as she looked at me then looked at my daughter again) "I'm so sorry to hear that, disappointment is a hard thing to feel...why do you feel disappointed today?"

M: (playing with the sand tray) I feel disappointed because...I dropped my chicken nuggets on the ground in the parking lot so I can't eat them daddy says and I really wanted to ...cuz I got a happy meal...so that's why I feel disappointed ....I feel sad too because I can't eat them" (continues to play with the toys in the sand tray.

Therapist: (sits there with her jaw on the floor)

That's when it became Talk/play therapy. She had never had such an articulate 3 year old in her office before. EVER.

as for your kiddo. He could be on the spectrum. Have you thought of getting him evaluated? A friend of mine got her daughter who's only a few months younger then mine and has got her in speech therapy to get her talking and talking properly and its helping a lot from what I hear. Early interventions can be amazing help. I wish you the best of luck with your little one.
